What is a good Linux HTML, CSS, PHP editor for somebody recently migrated from dreamweaver?

I am a web developer and I recently switched to Ubuntu, because it’s faster for LAMP development. I was working with Dreamweaver in Windows.

Which editor do you recommend to me for to use with PHP, HTML, CSS development? I have tried aptana and jedit but I did not like these.

On Ubuntu 11.10, you have a few graphical HTML editors to choose from:

  • kompozer
  • gwrite
  • libreoffice
  • bluefish
  • gphpedit

Some of these are more full-featured than others. You’ll have to play around and see which ones suit you best.
And Geany supports many, many languages (markup, programming, and more), and is fast since it doesn’t depend on the full GNOME stack.

Geany is a text editor using the GTK2 toolkit with basic features of an integrated development environment. It was developed to provide a small and fast IDE, which has only a few dependencies from other packages. It supports many filetypes and has some nice features.
